Debating

I enjoy arguing, or, if you prefer, debating. For me, it is a very stimulating intellectual activity. A battle of wit, will, and eloquence.

I'm not formerly part of any debate team or anything, MSHAP doesn't have that. I guess that Mock Trial does have a little, which makes it a fair substitute, but I really don't get to debate as often as I would like.

Which is why I love it when my two fellow bloggers make posts that are argumentative. It allows me to present my side in a respectful manner, and have a nice, pleasant discussion with friends.

Of course, fictional arguments about the ethical ramifications of eating cooked beans is fun too. :)

Bicycling

Along with swimming, one of the few ways I get exercise these days is bicycling.

It's nice to be able to go long distances, without getting overly fatigued, and still have the feeling that you got there by your own power (more or less). Of course, one could have a similar feeling  with jogging. But I'm not the most athletic guy in the world, so I wouldn't be able to go nearly as far as I do bicycling (which, when I think about it, isn't that far to begin with).

In addition, bicycling can be very relaxing. Every now and then I have inspiration to ride after a good bike ride.

After writing all of this, it makes me wish that I rode my bike more often, because sadly I don't do it on a regular basis.

Trash Bags

A little weird thing about me is that I am absolutely horrible at opening trash bags.First, it takes me forever to find out which end is the top and which end is the bottom. I usually guess incorrectly, ripping the bag. Depending on the type of bag, it might take me several before I get one open. Occasionally I have been unsuccessful, and forced to wrap ripped trash bags around whatever item I need put in a trash bag. When I get a bag open on my first try, I feel the need to celebrate. Sadly, not everyone else has the emotion of accomplishment from opening a trash bags...

Just a fun fact about  myself :)

Cell Phones

I should stop being lazy now. I've been home for seven hours, and I haven't written a single thing yet. Bad John, bad...

Almost every teenager I know has a cell phone. Yet I don't. Why? I wouldn't use one. If I wanted a cell phone, and I was willing to put out the money to get it, then sure, I could have one.

Specifically, I'm not a fan of texting. To me, it seems like a pathetic excuse for communication. It seems like it could easily get awkward, and honestly, how many people use proper punctuation while texting? Some, sure, but not many.

The concept behind cell phones is great, and very much necessary in today's world. But, cheap phones can do that. For example, I routinely use a super cheap cell phone that my parent's let me use when I need to be able to be reached when I'm out. Why can't more people simply settle for that?

Thunder and Lightning

I have literally three minutes to write a post. Cool.

Even though I adore rain, I'm not a big fan of thunder and lightning. Not that I'm scared, at times it can be cool. But it makes it real hard to stand outside, enjoying the rain, when you know that any second lighting could come and burn you to a crisp. It just kind of ruins the moment.

Oops, ran out of time. I beg your forgiveness for this pathetic excuse for a blog post.
